An afternoon hatch

Heading to the river street bridge to try to catch an afternoon hatch. Looking for March Browns and early caddis

  1. How'd it go? Water is reel low. I got into an epic spinner fall in Rutland last week

  2. Water is low. It's a bit worrysome. With all that snow we had and we're already into sub 50 CFS flows? Doesn't make sense...

About the fishing, I wasn't there long but I hooked into one rainbow on a trailing nymph. Nothing rising or hatching when I was there.

  4. I have been doing very well on the Nissitissit though water levels are dangerously low there too. Prior to that I was out at the Housy which was fishing very well. I am afraid the Quinnie is on hold for a bit. I wonder when the work on removing the dam will begin?

  5. Hey all - is this blog still alive? Haven't seen any posts since the spring.
Could use some more local intel to convert fishing to catching!

  9. Fish are still in the river. With this warm spring a stone behind a decent size wet fly have been working for me. On the smaller streams you'll find some rising. There's plenty of fishing in central mass don't let stocking season keep you in.

  10. Nice suggestion, I tend to lead with the stone, followed by an emerger or pheasant tail as the trailer. Will try your setup tomorrow morning at River street!

  11. Had a great day Sunday with surface action. This rain is much needed. It won't be long now

  12. Good to hear. What were they taking on top? Stones? Early caddis?

  14. Anyone having any luck at the Quinnie lately? Went yesterday from Trout Brook downstream. Nice pools and runs but didn't see a single fish, no takes. KK
